2019 U-23 AFCON: DR Congo disqualified for using an overage player

DR Congo have been disqualified from the 2019 U-23 AFCON qualification after they were found guilty of using an overged player in their 3-1 aggregate win over Morocco in the second round of qualification.

TP Mazembe defender Arsene Zola born on 23rd February,1997 featured for the Young Leopards both home and away in a competition that only allowed to have players born not later than 1st January,1997.

The central African nation have been further banned from participating in the next two editions of the tournament that will be held in Egypt later this year.
The Young Atlas Lions have now progressed to the final round of qualifiers where they will face Mali having successfully won their appeal against the Young Leopards.
