I haven't purchased any land belonging to the State - Ameyaw Cheremeh



The Member of Parliament for Sunyani East, Hon. Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh has denied knowledge of the sale and purchase of a piece of land at the Nana Bosoma market belonging to the state.

The plot of land has come under contention after the demolishing of the old abattoir, where Some people in the constituency accusing the Lawmaker of buying for the construction of a fuel filling station.

But speaking to Paa Willy host of Issues on Ark Fm, the Majority Chief Whip Hon. Ameyaw Cheremeh said the accusations were false as he has no such intention to purchase that plot of land.

"These are false claims, I have not acquired any plot of land belong to the Sunyani abattoir nor the state"

In an earlier statement by a group calling its self-Concern Butchers Association of Sunyani, they accused the MP of buying the land illegally.

At the vetting committee last Friday, the Bono regional Minister designate, Evelyn Kumi Richardson answering question on the said land sale, she disclosed that, she was advised by her physical planning officer to return the piece of land to the Sunyani Traditional Council since the original purpose for which the land was given to the Sunyani Municipal Assembly (SMA) has changed.

This advice according to her, informed her decision to give the Land back to the Sunyani Traditional Council.

When asked by the Hon. Member of Parliament for Asawase and deputy Minority Chief whip, Muntaka Mubarak whether or not she was aware the land in question was a vested land, she told the committee she only knew the land belongs to Nananom hence, her decision to give it back to them after the traditional council sent a delegation demanding it following the demolishing of the facility.

Meanwhile, Hon Kwasi Ameyaw Cheremeh alleged, the land has been sold out to a private developer and that, the Sunyani Municipal Assembly had received a 10% share on the sale of the land, calling for thorough investigation.
