Berekum MPs Snub Traditional Council's Invitations

The two members of Parliament from Berekum East and West turned down an invitation by the Berekum Traditional Council to render an accounts to Berekumman since their time in office

Members of Parliament who were invited were the Member of Parliament for Berekum East, Honorable Dr Kwabena Twum Nuamah and Hon Kwaku Agyenim Boateng who represents the people of Berekum West.

The invitation was scheduled on Wednesday February 6, 2019 at the Berekum Chief Palace.

Information available to fillascorner.com reveals that the invitation was to force the MPs to render an accounts to the people of Berekum. Nananom complained about Berekum roads which is in a deplorable state.

They wanted to know what they (MPs) have done for Berekum since their elections into Parliament for this longest of period time from their common funds and other benefits they receive as lawmakers, Dr Kwabena Twum Nuamah is in his second term and Hon Agyenim Boateng in his third term.

Personalities there were the Paramount Chief Dr Nana Amankona Diawuo I, Paramount Queen Nana Akua Ameyaa Hene II and all the other subchiefs of the Berekum Traditional Council such as Mawerehene Nana Owusu Nsia, former IGP and Ghana's Ambassador to Israel, leaders of the New Patriotic Party and the Media.

Unfortunately none of the Parliamentarians made himself available without any reasons to Nananom why they could not honor their invitation.

The Constituency Chairman of the ruling party Mr Kwaku Kankam appealed to the Traditional Council to settle the dispute between Berekum East lawmaker and the Municipal Chief Executive, which he think maybe one of the cause Dr Twum Nuamah failed to attend the meeting.

"Nananom, there's one thing which is worrying and can not help the development of Berekum, as at now our MP and the MCE, Mr Kofi Agyei are not in good terms, they do not speak to themselves"

The Traditional Council is set to take another action in the subsequent days.
